FESTIVAL OF COLORS AND DELIGHTS: HOLI SPECIAL!
Hello foodies! Today's blog is dedicated to our festival of colors.Yes, you got it right! It's Holi Special blog.
As you all know Holi celebrates the beginning of spring season.This festival is incomplete without gujhiyas,matar (namkeen snack) and thandai.Since I do not enjoy much playing with colors, I just cherish Holi with delicious snacks and drinks.I love this festival only because of the delicacies prepared during this time.So let's binge it on...
1.MATAR/KHASTA NAMAK PARA: Matar is a khasta namkeen prepared from refined flour/Maida.It is also called as Khasta Namak Para.I bought it from Gopal's Sector 15, Chandigarh.It costs Rs 280/kg.Since the packet includes Simple and Masala Matar I loved the former one.According to me, some things taste best when they are served in their original flavor.The same case happened with this snack too.I did not like the masala flavor.The real taste was missing due to the masala.

2.GUJHIYAS: This is the real essence of Holi celebration.Gujhiya is a sweet dumpling prepared from maida or suji or wheat flour and stuffed with khoya.I remember my childhood days when my mother used to prepare this sweet at home.Stuffing gujhiya with khoya and frying it in the kitchen, the whole house was filled with its aroma,.Back to the track :-p.So I bought it again from the same place for Rs 480/kg.The outer covering of gujhiya was little crispy and from inside it was too soft due to stuffing.A little sweet liquid inside was making it more tempting.Purely satisfying experience this time.

3.THANDAI: It will be unfair if we do not mention Thandai on this occasion.Snacks without drinks will not work it out.So I prepared thandai at home.I have taken almonds, cashews, melon seeds, poppy seeds, fennel seeds, black pepper powder, cardamom powder cinnamon powder, saffron strands, sugar and ground all to make a fine powder.Then I added the mixture in Almond Milk and garnished it with saffron strands.
Note: I have taken almond milk since it is low in calories and does not contain bad fat.

Finally, I am ending here and going to have some more snacks.Till then play safe Holi.Do not throw colors on animals as it is not safe for them.Till then Till then stay healthy and "MAST RAHO AUR JEE BHAR K KHAO"☺
